ButtonBass is a free online music creation platform where anyone can make beats, play instruments, and explore electronic music — all inside a web browser with no downloads or sign-ups required. How to Use ButtonBass DJ Edition
The DJ Edition is a dual-deck turntable simulator built around a custom AudioWorklet scratch engine. Two decks sit side by side on a brushed-steel console with a crossfader between them. Click the crate icon to open the record bin, click any of the 14 albums to load it onto the deck that opened the crate, then hit play — the platter spins up to 33⅓ RPM and the tonearm drops onto the record.
Click and drag a spinning platter to scratch. The audio reverses with you, snaps when you let go, and recovers smoothly back to play speed thanks to a physics-driven recovery curve. Drag the pitch fader on either deck to beatmatch (double-click to reset to zero), and slide the crossfader at the bottom between A and B to blend the two decks together.
Toggle the Auto-Mix button to let the decks run themselves. Random albums load on each deck, one plays through, then the crossfader automatically slides over to the other deck while a fresh album queues up on the deck that just faded out. It's a self-driving DJ that runs hands-free until you turn it off.
14 Albums, 140 Tracks
The crate ships with 14 original albums covering a wide range of genres: reggaeton, drum & bass, lo-fi, phonk, trap, synthwave, future bass, glitch hop, hip hop, dark pop, afrobeats, rock fusion, reggae, and 8-bit. Each album has 10 full tracks for 140 tracks total, all original and royalty-free for personal mixing and practice.
Built for Real Scratching
Most "online DJ" tools fake scratching by changing playback rate — they can't go backwards. The ButtonBass DJ Edition uses a custom Web Audio AudioWorklet that walks a floating-point sample position with cubic Catmull-Rom interpolation, so audio plays cleanly forward, backward, and at any speed in between. The platter physics use a recovery time constant tuned to feel like a real direct-drive turntable: yank the record, let go, and it snaps back to speed the way a Technics 1200 would.
